West Gate Tunnel Discovery Day - Community Run & Walk

Melbourne opened the doors to one of Victoria’s largest infrastructure projects for the West Gate Tunnel Discovery Day – a unique community run and walk event giving 50,000+ participants the rare opportunity to experience the tunnel before it officially opened to traffic. The event featured an 8km run and 2.5km community walk through the new tunnel network, attracting strong public interest and creating a memorable city-shaping moment for Melbourne’s west.

The Shift Corp partnered with Maverick, Transurban and key Victorian stakeholders, to plan and deliver the run and walk event, creating a safe and seamless participant experience within a live major infrastructure environment. The event transformed a critical transport corridor into a large-scale public activation celebrating connectivity, community and the future of Melbourne’s transport network.

The event generated significant public and media attention, showcasing the scale of the West Gate Tunnel Project while providing Victorians with unprecedented access to major new infrastructure ahead of its official launch.
